Seasonal Pests - Mice

Here in the UK we have two types of mouse that can be classed as pest species; the house mouse (mus domesticus) and the long-tailed field mouse. The latter, being mainly associated with the agricultural industry, is classed as a non target species until it enters the confines of a building.

Constantly gnawing to keep down their incisor teeth, they will gnaw at electric cables, gas and water pipes.

From a human health perspective mice will attack your food stuffs, urinating frequently and depositing up to 100 droppings in a 24 hour period on food, food preparation surfaces and crockery, exposing us to the risk of diseases such as salmonella, a serious food poisoning bacteria.

As mice gain moisture from their food source, they have no need to leave your premises in search of drinking water, instead making themselves quite at home indoors where they can safely nest and breed.

Control

We at Excel Pest Management use a combination of rodenticides to ensure complete eradication, as quite often is the case that traditional baiting and trapping by house-holders proves ineffective.

Once eradication has been achieved, we will advise you on how to proof and prevent against further infestations by means which are both cost effective and practical.
