H. Pickup Mechanical & Electrical played a pivotal role in the design and installation of the electrical infrastructure for the new CO₂ plant at GWE Biogas in Driffield. Our involvement included the initial power distribution setup as well as the comprehensive field wiring required for the plant’s ongoing operations.
Key Responsibilities
Sub-Main and Distribution:
We installed a new sub-main and associated distribution system, which included two 185mm 4-core steel wire armoured cables running to a new panel. This was a critical component of the power supply for the new CO₂ plant.
Field Wiring and Final Connections:
Following the sub-main installation, H. Pickup was contracted to carry out all field wiring and final electrical connections for the CO₂ system, supplied by Pentair. This involved establishing reliable connections to a variety of plant components.
Containment Systems:
To manage the complex wiring routes, our team installed a range of containment systems—including cable trays and baskets—across multiple levels of the plant. These ensured a secure and organised routing of cables throughout the site.
Cabling:
The project required the installation of steel wire armoured and control cables to connect pumps, sensors, and valves, supporting the safe and efficient operation of the entire CO₂ system.
Compliance and Standards
All work was carried out by our experienced engineers in strict accordance with BS 7671 regulations. Our commitment to quality and compliance ensured a safe, robust, and future-proof installation.
